Continuing her avant-garde streak for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping press, Fanning arrived at a London photocall today dressed in a look that would make Effie Trinket proud. The actor and her stylist, Samantha McMillen, turned to Alessandro Michele and the Valentino team to create a custom, vintage-inspired skirt suit: a pale salmon jacket and pencil skirt, both outfitted with micropleated hems. For an extra flourish, Fanning’s tailored jacket featured a crisp white ruffled collar.
But a character as over-the-top as Effie demands an extra dose of theatricality. Luckily she came to the right place: Michele helped Fanning achieve her method dressing dreams with butterfly-laden accessories: a pair of semi-sheer wrist-length gloves and a matching cream-colored beret, both adorned with three-dimensional and multicolored butterflies.
Fanning kicked off the press tour in a Robert Wun couture dress with a matching ballerina headpiece.
Jaunty chapeaux seem to be the name of the game on this press tour. Fanning kicked things off earlier this week at the film’s London premiere, where she chose Robert Wun’s sculptural, couture take on a music box ballerina—complete with a moving hat. Then, a Vivienne Westwood look made complete with a silk red pillbox designed by famed British milliner Rachel Trevor Morgan.
While we’re mere days into what’s sure to be a lengthy press tour (the film doesn’t release in the United States until November 20), Elle Fanning is already showing us what she’s made of.
